Memorial Day is the day for honoring those who perished while on active duty. It was originally called Declaration Day after the Civil War, with the purpose of decorating the gravestones of the roughly 620,000 people killed in that war. Memorial day is observed the last Monday in May.
This marks the unofficial start of summer! Communities across the nation still decorate graves with flowers and hold parades to honor our fallen soldiers.
While most of us will be gathering with family and friends, having bbq’s, attending a parade, and spending time with love ones, please remember those that gave their life for our Country, FOR OUR FREEDOM.
